Matthew Fellows
I started singing barbershop in 1999 and have sung at the international level in both quartets and choruses. I’m currently part of the musical leadership of San Francisco’s Fog City Singers. When I’m not singing barbershop, I work my “day job” as a primary care physician. Just as medicine is also an art, I have a passion for marrying the science and artistry of barbershop singing. I started studying voice through barbershop, and as an amateur singer I enjoy sharing my experiences and techniques with performers of all levels.
Barbershop contests have provided me with decades of learning about myself as a performer. Through every triumph and disappointment, so many judges helped me come away from countless weekends a better singer. I became a judge so I can help others grow in the same way. I take pride in being able to help groups find each other’s voices and ensemble sound in a way that is natural and healthy for every singer.
