HaCo weekend
Holiday Inn Leiden, October 7 – 9, 2016

Update July 2: registration EXTENDED for a few weeks to fill the remaining slots

Hello all enthusiastic male and female barbershop singers!

It took us a while to put this great Harmony College together, but now we are ready for a great barbershop weekend!!

TWO! World champions quartets, Crossroads and The Buzz are coming to teach and coach. In addition, there are seven other coaches.

The biographies of the two quartets can be found on their websites:
  Crossroads http://www.crossroadsquartet.com/quartet-bio.php
  The Buzz: http://www.thebuzzquartet.com/meet.html

The other coaches are::
- Liz Garnett (UK) known arranger and educator in barbershop
- Cy Wood, Patrick Brown and Gary Plaag, one Canadian and two Americans,
have all been at Holland Harmony before to coach and / or judge and all three
  coach in the performance category.
- Sander Gieling, who will play around again with rhythms and vocal percussion
and introduce us to the Intelligent Chorus.
- Kyle Kitzmiller, USA, became an International Champion in 2015 with his
quartet Instant Classic. Kyle sings bass and he is also an arranger and music judge.
- Cees Wiegel, from the Netherlands, will be working with communication and
  leadership topics speaking Dutch.

We sincerely hope that both men and women will come in large numbers to participate in this great HaCo 2016.

What do we have planned?
- A male chorus under the direction of Jim Henry, wow!
- A women's chorus under the direction of at least two of The Buzz women, also wow !!
- A quartet stream, with enough possibilities to also participate in general workshops.
- A conductor stream, in which much can be learned on any level.
- And a 100% Workshop stream, where all three categories of barbershop will be
dealt with by our great coaches.

There are workshops for everyone, for beginners and advanced students and for special groups. Everyone is cordially invited to come and join us.

On Friday, we’ll have the quartet competition and on Saturday the Fun Show, an open stage, where everyone is invited to sing, barbershop or non-barbershop. The Buzz and Crossroads will also make themselves heard! Registration for the Fun Show is on Saturday morning during the HaCo weekend.

We can hardly wait! What about you? We are looking forward to seeing you in Leiden, a beautiful historical town, from October 7-9.

Warm regards
Madelon, Eric, Nicky, Jo, Nelleke and Lenhard

How do I fill out the registration form?

It is important to first have a good look at the overall schedule for the weekend, before making a choice. Please also read the descriptions of the workshops and the information about the coaches.

Registration opens on Monday May 23.

Please start by choosing which stream you want to be in.

When you have you made that choice, then fill out the corresponding registration form on the website.

  • Stream: Men's or Women's Chorus
You will work for 8 hours spread over the weekend with two coaches. You will also still have 6 hours available for workshops. On Sunday afternoon you will perform with the chorus in the final show. We will be working with two songs that you will receive well in advance so you can practice at home. No sheet music on the risers!

The men’s chorus will be directed by Jim Henry and coached in performance by Patrick Brown.
The female chorus will be under the direction of Karen Breidert and coached in performance by Debbie Cleveland.
There is a maximum number of participants for both choruses: 120 women and 100 men. So be fast!

=> Online registration form male chorus for international participants

=> Schedule available workshops for female chorus (please print!)
=> Online application form for women's chorus  (link disabled)
         Update May 25:
we have reached the maximum capacity in the Women's Chorus Stream.
It is no longer possible to register for the Women's Chorus Stream.

  • Stream: quartets.
This is only for complete quartets. You get 2 times a full hour of quartet coaching. The remaining 12 hours can be spend on optional workshops , or watching other quartets being coached or spending time with your quartet. On Friday you will participate in the quartet competition.

Registration for the quartet stream proceeds in two steps.
Step 1: the quartet communicates their wish which coaches they would like like to coach the quartet before June 4 via a special link. The EC assign coaches to each quartet by June 5th, taking their wishes into consideration as much as possible.
=> Online registration form step 1 (for non-HH quartets)
=> this link is no longer valid since the deadline has been passed.

Step 2: the two specific coaching hours will be communicated to each quartet on June 5th. Each quartet member then fills out their own individual choices of workshops for the remaining 12 hours.
=> Online application form step 2

  • Stream: 100% workshops.
If you want to attend as many workshops as possible, this is your best choice.
You do not sing in the men's or women's chorus. You will have 14 hours available to freely make a choice from the range of workshops.
=> Online registration form for non-HH participants

  • Stream: Directors.
Basically the same as the stream "100% workshops' but you choose the workshops that focus on conductors.
=> Online registration form for non-HH participants

It can be useful to first print out the form and circling on paper what your choices are. Take your time to do this carefully. You can not choose workshops that overlap in time.
